Where to go for Online Tickets
There are different strategies when it comes to buying tickets online. The first is to just go on to the whole list of websites and find the cheapest flight that you want possible. Usually this blitzkrieg method works reasonably well. However, if you can change your dates at all you can sometimes save yourself quite a bit of money. For instance, a friend of mine almost halved the cost of a flight from L.A. to New York by flying back on a Monday as opposed to a Sunday. We did that on Hotwire and it did us the favor of checking similar dates.
So, if you’re having some difficulty it sometimes helps to try one of these websites to get the best dates and then, when you have the cheapest dates that you can travel on, check the other websites.
  1. 1. Orbitz
  2. 3. Hotwire (good for last minute and getting better dates)
  3. 5. Kayak
There are also several airlines which don’t advertise their prices on any online sites (besides their own), but are frequently still the cheapest way to fly:
  1. 1. Southwest (as far East as Chicago)
  2. 2. America West (as far East as Chicago)
  3. 3. Jet Blue (Cross Country)
